John Padberg, S.J., has been Director of the Institute of Jesuit Sources since 1986. He received his doctorate in the history of ideas from Harvard University and then taught and was Academic Vice President at Saint Louis University. He was a member of the staff of the US Jesuit Conference in Washington, DC, and then President of the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge, MA for ten years before returning to St. Louis. He has written, published and lectured extensively on the history of the Society of Jesus and on Jesuit higher education.
