Join alumni and guests for a reception and presentation by Atul Gawande, M.D., innovative endocrine surgeon and public health researcher. The presentation is titled "Learning From Failure"
When: Tuesday, February 7
5:30 - 7:00 p.m.: Alumni Reception
7:00 p.m.: Presentation. A book signing will follow the lecture.
Where: Pere Marquette Gallery/Wool Ballroom (on SLU's Frost Campus)
Cost: Free
While the presentation is free and open to the public, the first 50 guests to arrive at the alumni reception will receive early access and reserved seating at the presentation. Parking available in the Laclede Garage. For more information, email mdalumni@slu.edu.
About the presenter: Atul Gawande, M.D. was ranked fifth in Time magazine's "Thinkers" category in the 2010 list of the 100 most influential people in the world. A Rhodes scholar, MacArthur fellow, and a New York Times bestselling author, Gawande is an innovative endocrine surgeon and public health researcher. He has studied and written extensively on reducing error and increasing efficiency in medicine and beyond. In his lecture at Saint Louis University he will address the humanity of medicine, particularly human error and how it can be used to improve health outcomes. |
